Ryan Harwell is the director of digital development at Cartoon Network focused on emerging technology around interactive kids content and games. With an extensive background in gaming and technology, Harwell has developed multi-platform content and immersive experiences for original series such as Adventure Time, OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, Summer Camp Island and We Bare Bears. In 2016, he led Cartoon Network’s first ever Game Jam in Portland, a 48-hour event that brought together over 200 developers, animators, graphic artists, designers, and musicians. His expertise inspired Cartoon Networks Studios’ first-of-kind VR shorts program to explore interactive narrative and native-VR production workflows. Harwell began his career at Cartoon Network at Turner’s headquarters in Atlanta before relocating to Cartoon Network Studios based in Burbank.
He was selected for Promax BDA’s Thrive program. Harwell is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology.
